JAZZ ON THE MOVE The First Compilation Posted 01 Sep 2020

The History of our catalogue begins in 2011, as a series within the general label CLAMSHELL RECORDS. We create these series at those moments to editing albums of an undetermined kind of Jazz (Avant-Garde, Contemporary, Free Jazz...) and Free Improvised Music: VECTOR SERIES – With the slogan: "MORE THAN JAZZ"

It was in 2015 when VECTOR SOUNDS RECORDS born as a unique label to continue the previous project. Our current slogan is very intentional too “ON THE MOVE”

Our two next releases will be two compilations of the two musical ways in our catalogue (Jazz and Free Improvisation) until now, with two principal aims:

These compilations are a precious collection formed by one theme of each of our albums, done to claim its value as a representative sample of the quality of the music that they contain.

Also, we would like to recover the role of the album, within the world of music, against the excessive “screenization” of its listening today.

"JAZZ ON THE MOVE TheFirst Compilation" is now Avaliable in our shop online

"Marianne" OUT NEXT WEEK! Posted 06 Jun 2016

LIQUID TRIO - Marianne

Liquid Trio is:
Agustí Fernández - piano
Albert Cirera - tenor & soprano sax
Ramon Prats - drums

RELEASE DATE: 13th JUNE 2016

Marianne is the new album by Liquid Trio, ensemble led by pianist Agustí Fernández, prominent figure in the Spanish avant garde scene and of international renown.

Albert Cirera on sax and Ramon Prats on the drums accompany Agustí Fernández with precision, creating soundscapes that seem to be describing an entire universe, squeezing out every last sound colour their instruments are capable of generating. The uncertainty faced by listeners is kept alive and expectant, making them wonder where this experimental and improvised sonic journey will take them.

The album is dedicated to Marianne Brull, for decades a stalwart on the Barcelona avant garde and improvisation scene, known by everyone for her constant support of the musicians that comprise it.

Marianne is the second album released by this ensemble after Primer Dia i Última Nit (Sirulita, 2013).

MOLIMO'S DEBUT ALBUM OUT NOW ON VECTOR SOUNDS! Posted 23 Nov 2015

MOLIMO

Molimo is:
Chefa Alonso - small percussion, kechapi, soprano sax
Barbara Meyer - cello
Cova Villegas - voice

The trio take us on a journey, a fearless quest to create unexpected, irregular, evocative musical textures while claiming new territories.

Molimo, the song of the forest, is sung by the Bambuti in their rituals. Its mysterious, unfettered sound blends into the woods, mingling with the songs of crickets, frogs and night birds. It seems to always be coming from afar as it steals through the forest, appearing and disappearing but never letting itself be confined.

POCKET CORNER - Spanish Tour 2015 Posted 04 Nov 2015

The Norwegian ensemble Pocket Corner is one of the longest running and most important projects on the Free Jazz scene in its country. Created and directed by the trumpet player Didrik Ingvaldsen in 1986, Pocket Corner has become an institution over the years. Many musicians from the current Norwegian avant garde scene have been part of the ensemble at some point; among them, Paal Nilssen-Love. Inheriting the Free sounds developed by Ornette Colema, they bring elements of Nordic Jazz and free improvisation to their music.

Pocket Corner son:
Didrik Ingvaldsen: Trumpet
Glenn Brun Henriksen: Alto Sax
Vidar K. Schanche: Guitar
Ståle Birkeland: Drums

The tour, organised by Vector Sounds in collaboration with some of the main associations and venues linked to free jazz and improvisation in Spain, will start at the Jazz & Cookin' Festival in Valencia, starting this year, where they will share the stage with other relevant names of the national and international vanguard jazz and free improvisation scenes.
